But sometimes, luck is also being in the right place at the right time.
Case in point: A few months ago, I met my graphic designer,Samir, for food at a little place called Farzi Cafe.
We were discussing some specs for an upcoming project and Farzi Cafe had these groundbreaking beef sliders.
Right after the waitress took our order (I got two portions btw),I got a call from London.“
On the other end of the call, was a senior marketing director of one of the most famous designer brands in the world.
They had a fashion show in three-weeks and their European manufacturers could not cope.
They wanted us – a company in Dubai – to build 800 customized chairs to seat their A-list guest list, which included celebrities, CEO’s and pro-athletes.
Long story short – we got the job done (a couple of days in advance actually).
But the real question is why did they come all the way to DUBAI???
Well it’s simple – Dubai is the EPICENTER of the world
7 hours to Europe. 7 hours to Singapore. 14 hours to the USA. And a stone’s throw away from Africa (give or take ;).
And if you don’t want to run around the world chasing manufacturers, you definitely do not want to have to hire 10 firms to complete one project (no matter the scale).
